WEEKEND RETREAT WITH THE VENERABLE JIGME THRINLEY RINPOCHE
TIBETAN BUDDHIST MEDITATION MASTER
This is a continuation of the 37-practice retreat from 2024. There will be a repeat of last year’s teachings so that everyone can participate. All are welcome.
One of the most famous Tibetan texts on lojong (mind training) is the classic ‘The 37 Practices of a Bodhisattva’ by Gyalsay Togme Sangpo, which is studied by followers of all schools of Tibetan Buddhism. This text teaches us how to train our hearts in compassion. It summarizes the teachings of Shantideva’s “The Way of the Bodhisattva” and other sources and presents the entire Mahayana journey of awakening in just 37 four-line verses.
The teaching verses provide a practical and inspiring guide to help us deal with adverse circumstances in our environment and especially in our own minds. They show us ways to look at and approach challenging situations differently and enable us to turn them into opportunities to practice loving kindness and compassion. It is a blessing to be in the present and receive these teachings directly from an incarnate lama who lives and practices the heart and essence of these teachings.
