Tulku Jigme Thrinley Rinpoche guides us through this essential traditional Buddhist depiction. On the one hand it depicts our present life-scenario in detail, and on the other hand it accentuates the access and the path to liberation. The retreat is accompanied with led meditation sessions by Rinpoche.
During this 3-day retreat, Tulku Jigme Thrinley Rinpoche directs our attention to the so-called “Wheel of Life” (Skt: bhavachakra). This depiction perfectly illustrates our situation: How life – and indeed lives – are actually perpetuated. We need to explore whether escaping from this (un-)merry-go-round to reach a state beyond dissatisfaction and limitation is possible or not. Such a proper understanding of the intricate workings of the wheel of life is indispensable to become motivated towards engaging in spiritual practice in the first place!
The key elements of the wheel of life are: the outermost segment with the 12 links of dependent arising (Sanskrit: pratītya-samutpāda; Pali: paṭicca-samuppāda); next the six segments that refer to the six states of existence (bhava); followed by the ring indicative of the upward and downward movements that result from one’s actions of body speech and mind; and, finally, at the very core the so-called 3 mental poisons (Sanskrit: triviṣa) that keep this wheel of life in motion.
Only by properly assessing our situation do we see that it is indeed possible to escape this wheel, achieve complete freedom from all unsatisfactory states of mind (duḥkha), emulate the Buddha and attain complete awakening (bodhi).
In his typical lucid manner, Tulku Jigme Thrinley Rinpoche explains us the wheel of life intricately. Irrespective of whether we are beginners or advanced practitioners: we gain momentum in our spiritual practice and daily life.
The costs indicated are for accommodation and food in Ganden Chökhor, for the teachings themselves a recommended price of 150.- Sfr. for the whole retreat is suggested and appreciated.
